Phuket Pride Week

The theme for this year’s Pride Week is ‘Same Same Not Different’.

According to a statement from PLU, “Men are different from women, and children are different from adults, but we are all human beings and all deserve to have the same rights and be respected in the same way. Therefore, we are ‘Same Same Not Different’.

The website,, has a section where this theme is explained in more detail, but it is hoped that by bringing together all types of people – gay, straight, undecided, Thai and foreigners – to celebrate and enjoy Phuket Pride Week, this message will be better understood by everyone.

PLU Chairman Ian Philips said “This is our second year of PLU organising Phuket Pride Week.”

“Last year we raised over B300,000 for Phuket LGBT and HIV charities, created a fun week for everyone and had more than 30,000 people watching the grand parade through the streets of Patong.

“This year we intend to build on that success, attract many more people, raise even more money for charities, deliver more value to our sponsors and and supporters, and ensure that we continue to promote the message of safe sex, while spreading this year’s theme message.”
