Danish and Swedish accept the marriage liturgy
The Danish Government lifted 7. June law on registered partnership and adopted the amendments to the Marriage Act. The Government wants all members of the Danish people's Church will be able to marry in the Church – regardless of their sexual orientation. Couples of the same sex may from 15. in June, when the law goes into effect, get married and call themselves spouses, both in the Church and the Town Hall. The Government's suggestion that priests should be able to say no to devote Isley was also adopted by the Folketing.
Already in December last year the Danish bishops imparted his church minister that they would have a liturgy ready to use as soon as the law was passed in the Parliament. 9/11. June was the liturgy, as 8 out of 10 Catholics support, presented at www.folkekirken.dk
In 2009 changed Sweden's Riksdag marriage laws, and in October of the same year passed Svenska kyrkans Synod in ecclesiastical vigsel for couples of the same sex.
Relationship of ethical choice
In 2009 Norway got a new marriage law, which also gave same-sex couples the right to enter into marriage. The law specifies, however, that same-sex marriage cannot be entered into the Church without the Council having established liturgy for the making of marriage between same-sex.
IN Marriage Act, section 16, It says: "A marriage is invalid if the priest in the Church of Norway has not followed the liturgy established by the Council."
At the request of Council appointed Bishop's meeting in autumn 2009 a relationship of ethical choice. Council requested an in-depth review of the Church's theology, marriage and relationship ethical understanding.
The Committee which is headed by the Bishops ' meeting, Helga Haugland Byfuglien preses, is expected to present his review in september. The review will, inter alia, to clarify the changes in popular attitudes and practice of relationship questions and provide premises for ecclesiastical relationship ethical guidance.
Paper will be treated to the Bishops ' meeting in the fall, and then submitted to the Council. Church Council shall then submit a case to the Council.
A way to go
Church Council's Director, Jens-Petter Johnsen, believe the case is unlikely to be able to divorce case on the Council until 2014.
-This is a matter that is inconsistent about the Church. Therefore it is important that the matter will be discussed thoroughly in the different organs. When there are proposals for the introduction of a liturgy for same-sex couples vigsel by, this must first be discussed as a matter of principle between the Synod and later as liturgy. This means that the Church of Norway in 2015 at the earliest, could take a stand on the issue of introducing a liturgy of vigsel by same-sex couples, "said Johnsen.
The Church of Norway has for many years debated homosexuality, gay cohabitation and same-sex marriage. See the list for the year 1992-2012 here
