Sex - God's way our way

The organisers of the ‘Love March’ seem to be appealing to all Jamaicans that sexual purity is important. According to the Christian understanding of this term, sexual purity must include a rejection of, homosexuality, fornication, adultery, child abuse, the rejection of common law marriage, etc.

The organisers of course are operating on the fallacious concept that Jamaica is a Christian nation, promulgated freely by the Government’s inability to stand up to the religious bullies.

The Christian definition of sexual purity is based upon passages of the Bible such as I Corinthians 6:20 “You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your body,”, Matthew 5:28 “But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart” , and Matthew 15:19-20 “For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality . .” For Christians to be obedient in their faith, sexual purity is a requirement.

If we continue to allow Jamaica to be stripped naked and raped by the unwanted imposition of religion on our society, the life, freedom, and the relatively sexual openness we currently enjoy, will be curtailed. Let us take a peek at what that could mean.

Common law marriage would be made illegal since it does not fit into the mold of a Biblical marriage (Genesis 2:24, Mark 10:6-9, 1 Corinthians 7:39), therefore all the benefits that common law partners enjoy today would be lost. Adultery must be made punishable by death, since we’re following the Biblical standard, the same goes for fornication (Deuteronomy 22:22, Leviticus 20:10, Deuteronomy 22:13-21). Divorce must be illegal, the Bible states that when a man and a woman get married it must be for life, and since remarriage is frowned upon in the Bible, it too ought to be made illegal (Malachi 2:14-16, Matthew 19:4-6, Mark 10:12, Matthew 19:9, Mark 10:11, Luke 16:18).

Lest we miss the connection, our glorified dancehall music, and infamous (or famous depends on your point of view) Hedonism II must be closed down, revenue generating events such as ATI, RTI, Reggae Sumfest, Sting, etc., would cease to exist, after all that would contort the image of a ‘true’ Christian nation, as these would promote fornication, adultery, etc.

The organisers of the ‘Love March’, say they are marching for sexual purity, yet on one of their Facebook images, the three points stated for the march are:

  • The love of homosexuals but the hatred of their sin
  • The keeping of the buggery law
  • The rejection of porn, fornication and homosexuality

I’m sorry, but I don’t buy the repeated posts that this march is about sexual purity. The divide and conquer strategy is very much alive and well in the way some Christians choose to operate. It’s smart really, “Let’s pick apart Jamaica on the issue of homosexuality, let’s use this issue, and gather a crowd, when we have them on our side, let us move on to other issues we don’t like, but can still gather large support, and slowly work our way to erode current Jamaican culture and impose Christian fundamentalism”.

It is time for the rest of Jamaicans who are tired of this hostile takeover of beautiful Jamaica to come forward, the Progressive Christians, non-Christians, Atheists, Agnostics, Secularists. We need to rise up and take a stand.
