The State Association of Christians (AEAC) has sent a letter to the House of the King urging the Princess Letizia Ortiz that you uncheck support provided to marriage between persons of the same sex during his recent visit to the Museum of contemporary art in Chile.

The Princess Letizia Ortiz, during a visit which took place last November to Chile, defended marriage between persons of the same sex, recalling that gender equality is "rooted" in Spain and that marriage "is for everyone".

The State Association of Christians (AEAC) has sent a letter to the House of the King urging the Princess Letizia Ortiz that you uncheck the support provided to equal marriage.

"The so-called same-sex marriage and abortion are not rooted in Spain, because they have been recently approved not without controversy", has defended the Catholic organization.

AEAC said that "Spain is a country with deep Christian roots, so that neither abortion nor called same-sex marriage are part of the culture of the country. In addition these practices are rejected by millions of Spaniards".

"The so-called same-sex marriage and abortion have been approved by the Socialist Government while it was in its election manifesto, and without any kind of referendum. In addition this Government just lost a general election showing disapproval of the Spaniards to their social re-engineering policies, which include the approval of so-called gay marriage and the adoption of unrestricted abortion", has defended the organization.

The Christian Lawyers group said that "the controversial approval of the so-called same-sex marriage has had a public rejection, backed by hundreds of thousands of signatures which proposed a legislative popular initiative against this measure. Almost two million Spaniards took to the streets in a demonstration on 18 June 2005 to claim that marriage is the union of a man and a woman ".

The Catholic organization has defended that "according to the above and taking into account that we consider that this situation has hurt an important part of Spanish Royal House represents in its official acts, request a rectification public Doña Letizia and the own Royal House to all Spaniards and especially in media that have reflected these opinions".
