Matrimoni gay e unioni civili?
U.S. District Court Judge Alan Kay upheld the state’s current laws banning same-sex marriage in Honolulu federal court Wednesday. Under current Hawaii law, same-sex couples can enter into a civil union, but they cannot marry. Oahu couple Natasha Jackson and Janin Kleid filed a lawsuit against Gov. Neil Abercrombie and the state, claiming the law [...]
The Government undertook to convene this week the coexistence Societies Act project, promoted by the homosexual community in the country. In this way, the Committee on Legal Affairs may move forward in the discussion of the issue. This is the commitment that the Minister of the Presidency, Carlos Ricardo Benavides, acquired after the meeting, [...]
Gay officials in a life partnership must receive the same supplements as heterosexual married couples. This decided the Federal Constitutional Court in a decision published on Wednesday.
August 2001
The popularity of civil partnerships has far outstripped official expectations, with new figures showing five times as many couples have made the commitment as was originally envisaged. The latest figures, published on Tuesday, show the number of couples entering civil partnerships in Britain rose by 6% last year to 6,795. This figure means more than 100,000 people [...]
I'm excited, happy. Held hand-holding a few moments before approaching to that book the Immaculate place again in the middle of the table in the sala Giunta di palazzo San Giacomo, seat of the Town Hall in Naples. They are the eight signatures that inaugurated the register civil unions. Are Antony and Ida, Antonio and Patrizia, Giovanni and Patrizia and Fabrizio and Luca. Their names and surnames – three heterosexual couples and homosexual – have filled the first boxes of that register to which the Mayor Luigi de Magistris attaches great value, "not only symbolic, but substantial for an act which we hope will be taken up even at national level".
Premier Newman: Let me tell you about a conversation I must now have with my son, who is gay. I must now tell him he can’t live here in Queensland because his relationships will feel inferior, with no status or symbolism since your government watered down the Civil Partnership Legislation to become a mere Relationship [...]
The Salvation Army is facing a backlash after its online anti-homosexuality and gay marriage stance sparked a social media boycott campaign. Gay pop star Darren Hayes – the face of ’90s hit machine Savage Garden, Logan’s most famous musical export and a current mentor on The Voice – has called for the boycott. The Salvos [...]
For the Rev. Sid Hall, the pastor at Trinity United Methodist Church in Austin for nearly a quarter-century, it is not enough to quietly work for inclusion. “It’s important to state it,” Hall says. In that vein, Hall says, he will lead a special worship service tonight at 6 at the church at 4001 Speedway [...]
As we observe Independence Day tomorrow, we can’t help but extend the celebration to that of the human spirit, and the human heart. To us, it shouldn’t be so farfetched, in this day and age, to expect the respect and independence given to heterosexual couplings to be extended to same-sex partnerships. Yet sadly, it is. [...]
Malta is joining in the shift in attitude that has spread over Europe in accepting the reality of same-sex families, according to Silvan Agius, a policy director of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans- and Intersex Association of Europe. A MaltaToday survey last week found 60% of 18- to 34-year-olds agreed with the introduction of [...]
Alternattiva Demokratika has expressed concern with Malta’s track record on the recognition of the rights of the LGBT community. Angele Deguara, AD spokesperson for social policy and civil rights, said Malta offers minimal protection to gay persons against discrimination, and that such protection is only in force because Malta had to comply with EU requirements. [...]
